We all know the body-con dress. Whether you love them or hate them, its probably inevitable that you will wear one at some time. They can be mini, midi, or maxi, but all are designed to hug the curves. I love a good form fitting dress, especially since I spend most of my life in jeans and sweats. Its a great change up to get out the heels and throw on a dress or skirt that fits in the right places. But, and this is a very big but (pun intended), one should not wear them without the appropriate foundation layer. I call it a foundation layer because, well, it sounds important, and makes me feel good about wearing them. I actually have no shame in admitting to wearing my foundation layer. Underneath every form fitting outfit that I wear is a secure and seamless pair of Spanx. Spanx is the brand that is most common for todays generation, but my Nana got me a pair after I had my first child; she used the term "girdle". Whatever the name, whatever the phrase, they are essential to giving a smooth and sexy body-con look.
There are so many different types of Spanx for different outfits. I also recommend wearing them under white jeans, pants, or anything else that needs to be smooth. After giving birth to two kids, things have shifted, and these curves come with some lumps and bumps. While I am perfectly confident in the skin I'm in, there is nothing wrong with a little assistance in looking my best. Its so unfortunate when I see women in a pretty dress, skirt, or outfit and they need Spanx so bad. In certain lighting they are especially crucial, and don't get me started on photos. In pictures, you can definitely tell who needs a foundation layer. I bet many of you would be surprised that all of your favorite celebrities wear them too. Here are some of my favorites that I have bought for myself and clients. If your issue is the stomach, the high rise thong one is perfect. For white pants and super fitted dresses, the ankle legging Spanx give a super seamless look. Valentines day is coming and I can't wait to style you in a fly, fitted dress, with a foundation layer of course.
